Pick Task Groups

Pick tasks are the instructions to move stock out of the system, holding information for what needs to be picked from the AutoStore into packaging or totes.

Pick Task Groups represent collections of pick instructions that guide operators in moving inventory from the AutoStore system. Each task group contains detailed information about what items need to be picked, where they should go, and how they should be processed.

  • Task Group ID: Unique identifier for the pick task group (one task group ID can contain multiple pick instructions)
  • Shipment Type: The pick task type showing what the task instructions are
  • External Customer Order ID: The Voyager shipment number linked to the task
  • External Customer Batch ID: The Voyager Batch ID linked to the task
  • Created Date: When the task group was generated
  • Status: Current processing state of the task group

Pick task groups can have various shipment types including:

  • Pick to Pack: Items picked directly into packaging
  • Pick to Container: Items picked into intermediate containers
  • Consecutive Pick: Sequential picking operations
  • Multi-item Picks: Tasks involving multiple SKUs
  • Single-item Picks: Tasks for individual products

Task groups progress through various states during their lifecycle:

  • Task group has been received into the system
  • Ready for processing and allocation
  • Awaiting assignment to available resources
  • Task group is currently being processed
  • Assigned to port operators
  • Active picking operations underway
  • All pick instructions within the group have been fulfilled
  • Items successfully moved from AutoStore
  • Ready for downstream processing
  • Task group has been cancelled before completion
  • May be due to order changes or system requirements
  • No further processing will occur
  • Task group processing has been temporarily halted
  • May resume at a later time
  • Often used for exception handling or priority adjustments

The interface provides comprehensive monitoring of:

  • Current task group status across all operations
  • Progress tracking for active task groups
  • Resource allocation and port assignments
  • Performance metrics and completion rates
  • Completed Groups: Historical data for performance analysis
  • Processing Times: Average completion times by task type
  • Efficiency Metrics: Pick rates and resource utilisation
  • Quality Indicators: Accuracy rates and error frequencies
  • Search Bar: Locate specific task groups by ID, order number, or other criteria
  • Filter Options: Filter by status, shipment type, date range, or other parameters
  • Hide/Show Columns: Customise displayed information based on user needs

Download task group data in CSV (Comma Separated Values) format.

Monitor and track task groups through their complete lifecycle:

  • View imported tasks ready for processing
  • Track in-progress operations in real-time
  • Review completed tasks for performance analysis
  • Manage cancelled and suspended tasks as needed

Task groups are tightly integrated with Voyager WMS:

  • Order Linking: Each task group links to specific Voyager shipments
  • Batch Processing: Groups can be associated with Voyager batch operations
  • Status Synchronisation: Real-time status updates between systems
  • Data Flow: Seamless information exchange for operational continuity

Task groups drive AutoStore picking operations:

  • Bin Retrieval: Instructions for which bins to retrieve
  • Pick Sequences: Optimised picking order for efficiency
  • Container Management: Guidance for packaging and container handling
  • Resource Allocation: Assignment to appropriate ports and operators

Track key performance indicators including:

  • Throughput: Task groups processed per hour/day
  • Completion Times: Average time from import to completion
  • Resource Utilisation: Port and operator efficiency
  • Error Rates: Frequency of issues and exceptions

Monitor quality aspects such as:

  • Accuracy: Correct item and quantity picking
  • Exception Handling: Management of unusual situations
  • Rework Requirements: Tasks requiring correction or revision
  • Customer Impact: Effect on order fulfillment and delivery
  1. Navigate to WMS Admin > Outbound > Pick Task Groups
  2. Review current status distribution across all task groups
  3. Monitor in-progress tasks for any issues or delays
  4. Check completed tasks for performance trends
  5. Investigate any cancelled or suspended tasks
  • Daily Reviews: Check completion rates and processing times
  • Trend Analysis: Monitor performance patterns over time
  • Exception Investigation: Analyse cancelled and suspended tasks
  • Resource Planning: Use data for staffing and capacity decisions
  • Regular Reviews: Check task group status multiple times per shift
  • Proactive Management: Address issues before they impact operations
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor key metrics for operational efficiency
  • Exception Handling: Quickly identify and resolve problematic task groups
  • Status Awareness: Understand the implications of each status type
  • Resource Coordination: Align task group processing with available resources
  • Quality Focus: Monitor for accuracy and customer satisfaction
  • Continuous Improvement: Use performance data to optimise operations
  • Stuck Task Groups: Tasks remaining in “In Progress” status longer than expected
  • High Cancellation Rates: Excessive cancelled tasks indicating systemic issues
  • Suspended Tasks: Tasks requiring investigation and resolution
  • Performance Degradation: Declining completion rates or increasing processing times
  • Status Investigation: Review individual task group details for stuck tasks
  • System Coordination: Work with operations team to resolve suspended tasks
  • Performance Analysis: Use historical data to identify improvement opportunities
  • Process Optimisation: Adjust workflows based on task group performance patterns
